Covid-19 Study: South Asians more likely to die. Why Ontario sending us to death by reopening soon?

forum.immigrantscanada.com

Of all the diasporas in the western countries, those from South Asia origin are more likely to die from Covid.

South Asian ethnic groups are from Indian subcontinent, which comprises India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, etc.

These alarming findings have been made public online ahead of being formally published in a medical journal. The study tells us only what happens once somebody is admitted to hospital, not whether they were more likely to catch the virus.

One report from BBC said It is the only ethnic group to have a raised risk of death in hospital.

"South Asians are definitely more likely to die from Covid-19 in hospital, but we don't see a strong effect in the black group," Prof Ewen Harrison, from the University of Edinburgh, told the BBC.

I don’t understand why there is so little attention to this in Canada, especially in Ontario?

In Canada, Ontario has the largest immigrant communities of this ethnic group. They are also very much in health care industry and very exposed to the dangers posed by anyone who is infected with corona.

Ontario is reopening its economy like USA very soon, but it is a very risky thing because majority of small businesses are operated by South Asians and they will risk everything!

British Columbia and Alberta also have big Indian origin communities and they too must address this issue.

Can someone please highlight this issue more?
